Our little love bug, Leo, is one!
Wow, how are we already here?! Little Leo graced our lives on February 7, and everything changed for the better. I had a tough time with postpartum anxiety when Zoey was born, so I was very nervous for the newborn stage the second time around. To say that postpartum with Leo was redemptive would be such an understatement. I don’t know if it was because I knew what to expect (that first-time parent learning curve is…woof), if I was more confident and competent as a mom, or if Leo was just naturally easier, but whatever the case, I relished in his babyhood and couldn’t get enough of him. I hope everyone gets a baby as easy & happy as Leo- his first year was such a joy!
Of course there were hard parts (he had about a thousand ear infections, sleep regressions, hard times at daycare), but when I look back on this year, I have only good feelings and am so thankful for the love bug that lights up every room with his smile.
During his birthday party, I couldn’t help but whisper a thank you (to God, to the universe, to all the past versions of myself) for bringing me here- to this moment.
This moment: my littlest turning one, Zoey helping him stuff cake into his mouth, Neal and I stealing joyful glances as we looked on at our kids loving each other. Thank you- I would choose this life every single time.
Okay why you are really here- all the Party Details!
I was playing around with a couple of different themes but landed on “Leo the love bug” since his birthday is so close to Valentine’s Day and the fact that Leo is the easiest baby to love. Here is the invitation, these watercolor heart bugs are from Etsy, and are really what inspired the entire design!
My favorite part is the red foil details for all the hearts!
The other two special touches were custom cups with the love bug theme and design, and a smash cake bib that also coordinated with the love bug theme. With the food I had moss and fake bugs sprinkled throughout, and then I cut some love bugs from the invitation out to hang around the house. We kept it simple, but special.
Okay here is my Barnett Crafted pitch: if you have a theme that doesn’t exist in general or doesn’t exist in the way you want, we got you. Our specialty is obscure or made up themes and to create all the items you could want for that theme! We start with the birthday party invitations, then help tie everything together with the birthday party goods. We love custom signage, custom cups, custom koozies, custom smash cake bibs, custom party favors and custom thank you notes to round it all out! You can email hi@barnettcrafted.com to get started!
